FAQ: When in voltmeter mode, why is my N6705 reading an unexpected value?

When open, the voltmeter inputs (the output terminals) will float to the maximum output value of the power supply. This is normal, since we are in reality using a power supply as a DVM. Other things to check:

Does the readback value fall within the measurement accuracy specs given in the Specifications Guide?

What is the range set to?

If you short the output of the voltmeter, does it read zero?

If you set one of the other modules to a known voltage, and measure it with the module that is in voltmeter mode, is the measurement accurate?
